GroupGifting.com Launches the MyGiftWand Social Gifting App for Android

Today, GroupGifting.com, the eGift card service, announced the availability of the MyGiftWand mobile app for Android on the Google Play app store. The Android app allows users to send, contribute to, receive and redeem eGift cards from more than 40 brands right from their Android phones wherever and whenever they want.

In addition to the convenience of mobility, the app adds new features and functionality to the social gifting service specifically for mobile app users. The mobile app extends all of the functionality available on the web and in Facebook; users can still send, receive or contribute to free or paid eGift Cards in just a few clicks, posting the gift to the recipient’s Facebook wall so that other friends can join in and contribute. Senders can also send SMS text messages and emails to the recipient and select friends. Notification of the contributions made show up in the app, keeping everyone informed. The app also connects to the company’s recently launched Birthday Reminder Service sending reminders as app notifications.

"The Android app makes sending eGift cards even more convenient and fun," said Tyler Roye, CEO of GroupGifting.com. "And the speed with which users can act will keep the gifts timely and relevant." Additionally the app serves as a mobile, digital wallet designed to store eGift Cards. Gift card recipients will have the option to have their cards right on their phone if they choose, so they can simply redeem the gift at the retailer’s brick-and-mortar location with no need to print or keep track of the cards.

"The digital wallet is a key feature for the mobile app," said Roye. "This is where the convergence of social and mobile commerce really begins to pay off for everyone. The consumer wins through simplicity and convenience and the retailers benefit from the increased traffic to their brick-and-mortar storefronts."

The mobile app extends the value proposition of the company which is focused on delivering a performance-based customer acquisition service designed to help retailers acquire target customers in social spaces. "Retailers make promotional cards available through our system based on the age, gender and location of the recipient, and our job is to enable a social gifting process that gets cards to the customer and the customer to the store", said Roye. "The mobile app streamlines this process and improves our chances of delivering the target customer and earning our success fee."

Users can also use the app to access MyGiftWand DailyGifts™, where they can find a limited number of free cards each day regardless of whether or not it is their friend’s birthday.

"Smart phone users represent a market that we feel is a great fit for our service, since they are largely tech-savvy, and often early adopters," said Roye. "Many rely heavily on their phones for social media, and this has certainly been validated by Apple’s deep integration of Facebook into the upcoming IOS 6." The company intends to follow the launch of its Android app with an iPhone app before the end of June.
